How to replace a deck without changing the link
You sent the link an hour ago and then spotted the wrong figure on slide 9. Instead of a 'please use this version' email, upload the corrected export in place. The link stays the same; the deck behind it changes.
The short answer
On Linkdeck Pro, export the corrected Keynote to HTML, compress the folder, open the deck's settings in your dashboard and choose Replace deck. Anyone who opens or reloads the link from then on sees the new version.
Step by step
- Fix the deck in Keynote and export it again: File → Export To → HTML.
- Right-click the export folder and choose Compress.
- In your Linkdeck dashboard, open the deck's settings and choose Replace deck (upload new version, keep same link).
- Drop in the new .zip. When the upload finishes, open the link on your phone to check.
What stays and what changes
- Stays: the URL and your custom slug, the password and email gate settings, and the views already recorded.
- Changes: the slides, the media and the slide count.
- Each replacement is stored as a new version alongside the old files rather than written over them.
Why the same link matters
Links travel. They get forwarded to a partner, pasted into Slack, printed as a QR code on a handout. When the deck behind the link changes, every copy is current at once. A new attachment or a new link leaves old versions circulating, and somebody always opens the wrong one in the meeting.
Who can do it
Replace in place is part of Pro, €12 a month, with permanent links, a custom slug, password, email gate and per-slide analytics. Free decks cannot be replaced: delete the deck and upload again, which creates a new link. Free links expire after 3 days in any case.
Questions
Are viewers notified about the update?
No. The link simply plays the new version the next time it is opened or reloaded. If the change matters to them, tell them.
Does replacing the deck reset my analytics?
No. Views recorded before the replacement stay on the deck. If you reorder slides, per-slide figures from before and after the change refer to different slides.
Can the new version be bigger?
Yes, within the plan limit of 500 MB per deck on Pro. Export, compress and upload as usual.
