How long does a Linkdeck link last?
The exact numbers, no small print. Free: 3 days from upload, or 24 hours if you uploaded without signing in. Pro: the link stays up for as long as you subscribe. Everything else on this page is detail.
The direct answer
- Uploaded without an account: the link works for 24 hours.
- Uploaded on a free account: 3 days from the moment of upload.
- Uploaded on Pro (€12 a month): no expiry. The link works while the subscription is active.
- Deleted by you: the link stops working immediately.
What viewers see after expiry
A plain page with a clock icon, the words 'This link has expired', a line explaining that free presentations are available for 3 days after upload, and a link to upload their own deck. No slides, no thumbnail, no download. Anyone who opens the link after that point learns that a deck existed and that it is gone.
Extending a link before day 3
If you uploaded without signing in, create an account within the 24 hours and the deck is attached to it; a free account then gets 3 days from the moment you claim it. If you are on a free account and the meeting slipped, upgrade to Pro before the deck expires and the expiry is removed. A free deck that has already expired cannot be revived: upload the export again and you get a new link.
Keeping a link permanent
Pro decks have no expiry date. You also choose the slug (linkdeck.me/your-name-proposal instead of a random one), so the link you put in a proposal or on a slide keeps working next year. When the deck changes, replace it from the dashboard and the same URL plays the new version; nobody has to be sent a new link.
What happens if Pro lapses
When a subscription ends, the account goes back to the free plan's limits for new uploads. Existing decks are not deleted automatically the day the subscription stops. If you are cancelling and still rely on a link, get in touch before you do; we would rather tell you exactly what will happen than have a client hit an expired page.
What deletion means
When a deck expires or you delete it, the link stops resolving straight away. The files are then purged from the CDN after a short grace period, currently 12 hours, and the deck disappears from your dashboard and analytics. Your original Keynote file and the export on your Mac are untouched; Linkdeck only ever held a copy.
Questions
Can I extend a free deck?
Not by itself. Sign in before the 24 hours are up to get the 3-day window, or upgrade to Pro before day 3 to remove the expiry. Once a free deck has expired, upload it again.
Does the link change when I replace the deck?
No. On Pro, replacing the deck keeps the same URL and the same slug; that is the point of replace-in-place. Viewers who open the old link see the new version.
Is a deleted deck really gone?
Yes. The link stops working immediately and the files are purged from the CDN after a 12-hour grace period. The deck and its view data leave your dashboard at the same time.
Upload now; decide on Pro before day 3
The first deck is free for 3 days. Pro removes the expiry for €12 a month.
