How to share a Keynote presentation on LinkedIn
LinkedIn has no slot for a Keynote file. You can post a PDF of the deck, which LinkedIn shows as pages to swipe through, or post a link to the deck itself, which plays with its builds and video. The two do different jobs, and many people use both.
Option 1: a PDF document post
Export from Keynote (File → Export To → PDF) and attach it to a post as a document. LinkedIn shows it as pages people swipe through in the feed, which suits a few key points. Builds collapse, transitions disappear and video becomes a still.
Option 2: the deck as a link
- In Keynote for Mac: File → Export To → HTML.
- Right-click the folder and choose Compress.
- Upload the .zip on linkdeck.me and copy the link.
- Paste it into a post, a comment or a message. LinkedIn shows a preview with the deck title and your studio name.
Put it in your Featured section
On your profile, add a link to the Featured section and paste the Linkdeck URL. A capabilities deck or a recent talk then sits at the top of your profile. Use a Pro deck for this: free links expire after 3 days, and a dead link on a profile is worse than none. On Pro you also choose the slug, so the link reads linkdeck.me/your-name-talk.
When the deck changes
On Pro, replace the deck in place and the link in your post and your Featured section plays the new version. LinkedIn caches link previews, so if you changed the title, run the URL through LinkedIn's Post Inspector to fetch a fresh one.
Which to use
The PDF is for skimming in the feed. The link is for people who want the deck as it was presented. Post the PDF and put the link in the first comment, or keep the link in Featured where it does not age out of the feed.
Questions
Can I upload a .key file to LinkedIn?
Not as a Keynote file. Export a PDF for a document post, or share the deck as a link that plays in the browser.
Will the link preview show my slides?
No. LinkedIn shows the deck title and a square card with your studio name. No slide appears in the preview.
Can I see who from LinkedIn opened it?
On Pro, turn on the email gate and viewers enter an address before the first slide; you see those addresses and time per slide. Without it, you see views, not names.
Put the deck on your profile
Export to HTML, compress, upload. Try it free; Pro (€12 a month) keeps the link permanent with your own slug.
