Can I share a Keynote as a link?
Yes. Export the deck to HTML, upload the zipped folder, and you get a URL. Whoever opens it sees the real Keynote player in their browser, with animations, builds, video and audio.
The short answer
Keynote can export a deck as HTML. Linkdeck hosts that export and gives you a link. The viewer needs nothing but a browser: no Keynote, no Apple ID, no app.
How, in three steps
- In Keynote for Mac: File → Export To → HTML… and save it.
- Right-click the exported folder and choose Compress.
- Upload the .zip at linkdeck.me. Copy the link.
What the person on the other end gets
On a phone: landscape, full screen, tap to advance, video inside the slide, sound from the first tap. On a laptop: the same deck in a browser tab. Builds and transitions run as you set them.
Why not Keynote's own sharing?
Keynote's iCloud sharing is built for collaboration between people with Apple accounts. It is a different job from 'open this on any phone in one tap', which is what a hosted link is for.
How long the link lasts
Free: the link works for 3 days after upload (24 hours if you upload without signing in), then the deck is removed. Pro: the link never expires, you choose the slug, and you can replace the deck in place without changing the URL.
Privacy
Links are unguessable and there is no public directory. On Pro you can add a password, require an email before viewing, and see who opened the deck.
Questions
Do viewers need Keynote?
No. The link opens in any modern browser on iPhone, Android, Mac or Windows. Nothing to install.
How long does the link last?
3 days on Free (24 hours anonymously). Pro links do not expire.
Can I change the deck after sending the link?
On Pro, yes. Upload a new export in place and the same link plays the new version. On Free, you would upload again and get a new link.
