You bought the template for its motion. Send it so they see it.
Premium Keynote templates sell on Magic Move transitions, build sequences and a typeface you installed to use them. Then the finished deck goes out as a PDF, and the client sees none of it. Keynote's HTML export keeps the motion; Linkdeck turns that export into a link that plays on any phone or laptop.
Where a template loses its design
- PDF: every slide becomes a still page; transitions and builds disappear.
- PowerPoint export: Keynote transitions are translated into PowerPoint's own, and any font the viewer has not installed is substituted.
- The .key file or an iCloud link: looks right only on a device with the template's fonts installed.
What survives as a link
- Builds and transitions, including Magic Move, played by Apple's own web player.
- Typography: in the exports we have handled, text is drawn into the slide assets, so viewers do not need the template's fonts.
- Video, audio and web links you placed in the template.
Three steps
- In Keynote: File → Export To → HTML…, into an empty folder.
- Drop the folder (or a .zip of it) on linkdeck.me.
- Send the link. Open it on your own phone first.
The template's licence
Template licences generally let you send presentations you made with them, and forbid handing out the editable template. A Linkdeck link sends the exported presentation, not your .key: there is no download button, and the editable file never leaves your Mac. Check your marketplace's licence for your exact use.
If you sell Keynote templates
A live link to the template, motion and all, shows a buyer more than a preview video can. Write to hello@linkdeck.me if you want to use Linkdeck links in your listings or include a 'send it as a link' step in your template's documentation.
What it costs
Free: 1 deck up to 200 MB, live for 3 days. Keep, €9 once: that deck never expires, with analytics, password, email gate and replace-in-place. Pro, €12 a month: 10 decks up to 500 MB, all permanent, and your name on the end card instead of ours.
Questions
Do viewers need the template's fonts installed?
Not in the exports we have handled: text is rendered into the slide assets. Apple does not document this, so check a text-heavy slide on a device without the font once.
Can the client download my editable deck?
No. The link plays the HTML export in the browser; the .key file stays on your Mac. As with anything on a screen, slides can still be screenshotted.
Does it work with PowerPoint or Google Slides templates?
No. Linkdeck hosts Keynote's HTML export only. A template has to be finished and exported in Keynote for Mac.
Send the template the way it was designed
